Timothy J. Smith, M.D., has been a student and practitioner of alternative and conventional medicine for over 25 years. Using a wide array of Eastern and Western medical techniques, he continues to treat patients at his general family practice in Berkeley, California, while teaching Chinese medical theory at the University of California, Los Angeles. A devoted advocate of Chinese medicine, Dr. Smith was integral in establishing acupuncture as part of American medical practice. He lives in Sebastopol, California, with his wife and two daughters.
