National league glory last visited Manchester City in 1968, when the likes of Bell, Lee and Summerbee lifted the English Football League Championship trophy. Fast forward forty-four years. The 2011/12 Premiership season belongs to Manchester City. It has been a long wait, but premiership glory has finally come to rest at the Ethiad Stadium. My Eyes Have Seen the Glory is a match-by-match, blow-by-blow, superbly illustrated account of the most memorable season of English football in recent years. The world has looked on as Man City has grown in strength under the steady leadership of Roberto Mancini. The chairman expected, the fans expected; Mancini has delivered. It has been a season of magnificent highs - the 6-1 trouncing of Manchester United, named by Sir Alex Ferguson as 'the worst result in my history' - and depressing lows - the infamous Carlos Tevez saga - but there has always been drama, passion and world-class football. Victory in the Premiership is to be cherished; My Eyes Have Seen the Glory is the book every Man City fan has been waiting to read.
Read it, bask in the glory of long-awaited victory, and celebrate the birth of a new era in the Premiership - Manchester City's era.
Andrew Waldon is a veteran Manchester City supporter, who has seen his favourite club play at over 170 different grounds. He has been a regular supporter of the club for over 40 years and has seen many highs and lows during that time, but his support has never faltered. A promising football career as a goal keeper disappeared when Manchester Boys over looked him after trials and now he churns out the usual story of how his auspicious career was wrecked by a knee injury sustained in a five a side tournament. Andrew is now happy to bestow upon others the virtues of supporting the Blue side of Manchester. He writes regularly, first submitting articles to the King of the Kippax fanzine but later finalising a move on a Bosman transfer to rival fanzine City Til I Cry . The creative writing talents of this honorary Mancunian (he moved north from Hemel Hempstead when he was six months old) have been recognised by many. For several seasons he had his own column in the official Manchester City match day programme, travelling the length and breadth of the country to provide match reports for the reserve pages. Those reports also appeared on the clubs official website. As well as providing the basis for reports on Greater Manchester Radio and in the Manchester Evening News. Andrew has also made literary contributions to several other publications including The Official City Handbook, The Official Monthly Magazine, The Liverpool Echo and Liverpool Post, The Newcastle Journal plus several other North East newspaper publications and also for The Masonic Quarterly. For one season he even produced a four page programme for Manchester City's home reserve games. He has also spent a short period of time as the source for all Manchester City historical queries until the appointment of Gary James to the role. This then allowed him time to spread his talents to writing and producing several books on his beloved team. He was co-author of Images of Manchester City, and Manchester City Classics. He then flew solo with Maine Road Voices and Waiting for the Whistle. Andrew now runs his own website www.mcfcreservesandacdemy.co.uk and since retiring from full time employment he has made a successful return to writing about his passion for Manchester City.
