The design is loosely based on Formula One cars of the mid-1960s, powered by a motorcycle engine via a chain-driven differential. The end product is a budget-priced, high-performance, road-legal single-seater, ideally suited to track-day use - and a learning experience in performance-car engineering and design.
Chris Gibbs is Vice Secretary, Newsletter Editor and Technical Adviser of the Locost Car Club, having first built a Locost between 1997 and 1999. In 2006 he wrote Haynes's Build Your Own Sports Car, the success of which prompted this follow-up book.
