The Wealdway and the Vanguard Way

Features two long distance walks, from the outskirts of London to the south coast. The 81 mile Wealdway runs from Gravesend to Beachy Head, while the 62 mile Vanguard Way goes from Croydon to Seaford Head in Sussex.

Two routes with a common aim, the Wealdway and the Vanguard Way, set out to walk to the sea. The Wealdway is an 82-mile long-distance footpath from Gravesend, on the edge of the Thames, east of London, to Beachy Head. The Vanguard Way is a 62-mile footpath from East Croyden to the coast at Seaford Head. Both walks traverse delightful countryside and offer much of interest, whether walked as a whole or in short sections. From Thames-side to clifftop, from suburbs to sea, in the Wealdway and the Vanguard Way we have two long-distance routes that traverse the country spreading south from London, and in so doing explore some of the finest landscapes in the south-east.
