Glimpses of Tibet as it is rarely seen. This book ventures beyond the well-visited Tibetan Autonomous Region to witness the raw beauty of one of the most inaccessible places on earth, Greater Tibet, where the Shangri-la of legend lives. It shares its awesome scenery, its peoples, their beliefs, attire and celebrations, and traditional way of life.
Of all the mystical destinations in the world, Tibet is perhaps the most arresting and intriguing. The vast, rugged terrain and extreme weather have invoked a plethora of legends and beliefs that form the foundation of life for an entire population. Here in this book, lie glimpses of Tibet as it is rarely seen. Braving hardy terrain and harsh weather, Jimmy Lam ventures beyond the well-visited Tibetan Autonomous Region to witness the raw beauty of one of the most inaccessible places on earth - Greater Tibet, where the Shangri-la of legend lives. The world is only just starting to experience pieces of Tibet in the further reaches of Qinghai, Gansu, western Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan. An untiring fascination has taken Lam time and time again to various parts of this land and equipped him with a keen sensitivity towards the seasons of Tibetan nature and culture. In this insightful and intimate album, Lam shares his personal perspective on the land called Greater Tibet - its awesome scenery, its unique peoples and their servant beliefs, elaborate attire and celebrations, and traditional way of life.

During his early years as a photographer. Jimmy Lam's portfolio included images of nature and wildlife from North America and Europe. More than a decade later he has shifted his attention to Asia. As associate of the Royal Photographic Society, Lam travels around the region to photograph its peoples and preserve their cultures in print. Knowing Tibet as well as he does, he has fallen in love with the land and its people. Lam's photographs are internationally published. Ju K Tan left a career in banking to toil as a freelance writer. A copywriter for nearly 10 years, he has spent the last three conceptualising and writing scripts for television. He has written six television series and two books, including An Assembly of Tastes: The Culinary World of the United Nations. Tan is currently the editor of a monthly magazine, Golf Asia.
