With its pristine, unspoilt beaches and breathtaking coral reefs, Malaysia is fast becoming one of the leading dive destinations in the world. The country boasts a coastline of 4800 kilometres and over 200 islands including renowned locations like Pulau Sipadan, Pulau Mabul, Layang-Layang Atoll and Pulau Redang. Packed with the most up-to-date information, 'Diving In Malaysia' is a comprehensive guide to over 130 thoroughly researched dive and snorkel sites, ranging from the most popular to the newly discovered. The book also introduces readers to the unique and awe-inspiring ecosystems and marine life of Malaysia's coral reefs. Written for divers and snorkellers of all levels, this highly informative book provides invaluable advice and information including satellite maps of featured islands and dive sites as well as GPS (Global Positioning References). Dr Svrcula also provides how-to-get-there directions and accommodation information; dive and photographic ratings; diveable wrecks; details on weather; safety and first-aid tips; and other practical and useful information.
Also featured is a handy-sized pull-out chart, detailing all the sites covered in the book and their location, eco-rating and unique features. Lavishly illustrated with colour photographs, Dr Svrcula also provides readers with underwater photography tips and techniques. In addition to providing all the information needed to dive in Malaysia, Dr Svrcula also addresses the need for preserving and conserving Malaysia's fragile marine ecosystem and the responsible interaction of divers and snorkellers with this underwater rainforest.

Dr Kurt Svrcula has been living in Malaysia for the past 20 years. He was the Representative Director of Stanford Research Institute (SRI International). A diver for the past 30 years, he is a noted underwater photographer and writer with a strong leaning towards environmental and conservation issues. He co-organised the Malaysian 2003 "Celebrate the Sea Festival" in co-operation with the World Festival of Underwater Images, Antibes Juan le Pins and the International Conference on Islands & Reefs Malaysia. He is a regular speaker at international conferences on issues such as economic development, leisure and sports tourism, marine tourism and conservation.
