Thomas Crean 16 February 1877 - 27 July 1938 Irish seaman and Antarctic explorer who was awarded the Albert medal for life saving. A member of the major expeditions of the day to Antarctica lead by Robert Scott and Ernest Shackleton. After retiring from the navy, Crean ran his pub the South Pole Inn in County Kerry with his wife and daughters.
