Walking the Camino de Santiago becomes a story about people, love, adventure, escapism, charity and friendships.
Simon Donlevy was nearly 50 and had worked for a high street bank for 30 years when he embarked on an incredible personal journey. There's something going on! takes us through his candid thoughts and emotions in the periods leading to the decision to take a sabbatical and live the life of a pilgrim as he walks nearly 500 miles along the Camino de Santiago.
The magic of the Camino soon reveals itself. He learns that he's never really alone and that he needs nothing else in life other than those he can throw his arms around. What starts as a book about a walk, soon becomes a beautiful story told in an engaging and humorous way about people, love, adventure, escapism, charity and friendships.
Join him on his intriquing quest to explore whether there's something going on!

Simon was born in Dudley in the West Midlands, UK and moved to Lagos, Nigeria when he was young. His brother, Richard was born there and that's where he spent his formative years. The family moved back to Dudley in time for him to start school.;At the age of 19, he met Lisa from Brighton, and a year later they were married. They now live in Worthing, on the south coast of England and have two boys, Michael and James.;Simon is a family man who holds friendships and relationships close to his heart, and no matter what, family always comes first. He started work for Lloyds Bank in 1988 and now, over 30 years later is Head of Risk and Compliance for the same organisation. Simon decided to take some time out, to get off the hamster wheel. What started out as a short sabbatical, turned into an epic adventure. A 500 mile walk that would change his perspective on life forever.;His original intention for this book was to create a keepsake for his family, a legacy if you like. As his adventures unravelled, he started documenting his memoirs, and the book wrote itself; an unintended consequence of his pilgrimage.;Simon hopes that this book will spread some of the magic of the Camino to enable others to share in its charm; and for the less adventurous, to enjoy it from the comfort of an armchair.;He has a passion for cycling, both riding and watching races, and loves going for weekend rides with his local club. He's also a keen supporter of Wolverhampton Wanderers football club.;As you can see, his hobbies neither include walking, nor writing...;The Camino changed him.
