The Kennedy White House years are looked back on with nostalgia as a legendary time. This volume recreates some of the memorable evenings of the era - from the outdoor dinner at Mount Vernon to the Pablo Casals gala - with guest lists, menus, recipes, china, table settings and anecdotes from guests. The pages are designed to combine text, quites, photographs, recipes and menus. Included are: a luncheon for Princess Grace; the celebrated alfresco dinner at Mount Vernon; the White House gala for Nobel Prize winners; and a star-studded dinner saluting Andre Malraux. In addition to photographs, recollections and memorabilia are recipes with menus by Rene Verdon, allowing readers to recreate some of the atmosphere of evenings at the White House.

Letitia Baldrige was an old schoolfriend of Jacqueline Kennedy's and was her social secretary during the White House Years. She is the author of fourteen other books, including Diamonds and Diplomats and Letitia Baldrige's Complete Guide to the New Manners for the '90s. Rene Verdon was born near Nantes, France, and worked at La Caravelle in New York before being chosen by Jacqueline Kennedy to be White House chef. He later opened a restaurant in San Francisco, where he now resides.
