Since its creation in 1973, the award-winning Moon Handbooks series has become a top choice among travelers who want a unique experience, a new perspective - and a few new stories to tell. Want to know about your destination's history, culture, and social issues? Looking for the lowdown on recreational opportunities, dining and accommodations options, and the most interesting regional sights and entertainment? No problem. Big or small, mainstream or obscure, every worthwhile detail is included in these books. Moon Handbooks: Zion & Bryce features information on outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, horseback riding, rafting and exploring Native American petroglyphs. This brand new guide also provides affordable and conveniently located lodging and dining options in Utah's National Parks and nearby cities, such as Moab, Escalante, and Springdale.

Bill McRae was raised in eastern Montana, in a ranching community noted for Old West nonconformity and lawlessness. It's no wonder that he was on the run for most of his university years: from Montana to Scotland, on to France, back to Canada, and then to England. This wayward youth didn't help him much in the job market: Over the years he has worked in jobs as varied as bookstore manager, catering chef, tile setter, remodeler, bartender, and bovine artificial inseminator. Nearly all these jobs have subsidized him at one time or another while he struggled to establish himself as a writer. Bill's first travel guide was Moon Handbooks: Montana, and of all his books it remains his favorite. He is the co-author of Moon Handbooks: Utah and has written other travel guides. He has also edited books for National Geographic and Mobil Guides, and has written for websites like GORP com and Expedia.com. In his spare time he earns money by writing polemics for a high-tech PR company. He makes his home in Portland, Oregon, and loves nothing more than setting out on a nice, long road trip with Cosi Fan Tutte playing on the car stereo.
