Let Secret Los Angeles guide you around the unusual and unfamiliar

Step off the beaten track with this fascinating Los Angeles guide book and let our local experts show you the well-hidden treasures of this vast city. Ideal for local inhabitants, curious visitors and armchair travellers alike.

Bison on the loose, the actual end of Route 66, a ramble over a Cold War army base, the statue of a Japanese man recognised as Righteous Among the Nations, the original Batcave, an abandoned Nazi camp, the official mortuary shop - Los Angeles' urban sprawl is brimming over with unusual and secret treasures. A concrete jungle incongruously surrounded by ubiquitous nature, L.A. is much more than a glamourous show of celebrities, beaches and theme parks.

Intended for everybody, visitors, locals and armchair travellers alike, who would like to explore the city in depth, this guide seeks to dispel the misguided image of a megalopolis that is often superficially dismissed or even disliked. But it can also be read as a declaration of love for the City of Angels.

Darrow Carson, a California native, grew up traveling the world with his father. As an adult, he returned home where, after working as a marketing manager at Disney Studios for ten years, he became a certified tour guide, surprising guests with some of the many hidden gems of Los Angeles. F licien Cassan, a French journalist, has been based in Los Angeles since 2013. He has written and edited stories for Le Monde, GQ France and Slate.fr, among other publications.
