An exploration of the most iconic caravan brand of all time, from the editor of Retro Caravan Club Journal.
No caravan manufacturer has ever been as big or as successful as Sprite. From the late 1950s to the mid-1970s they dominated the caravan market offering cheap, lightweight and easy to tow caravans. Mention Sprite to any caravanner, and the chances are that they have owned one at some point. Company founder Sam Alper would come to be known as the 'King of Caravans', with his initiatives paving the way for modern caravan manufacture and sales techniques. To this day, the brand is still in production but the company is now owned by the Swift Group. Models such as the Alpine, Musketeer and Major have now been in production for at least fifty years.
This book serves as a complete guide to the history of the brand and the individual models, from the company's inception in 1948 to when the infamous Newmarket factory closed its doors in 1993. You can find everything here from vital technical specifications to samples of the original exterior colours and upholstery. It's a must have for any Sprite owner or enthusiast.

Cameron Burns has taken a keen interest in Sprite caravans from an early age. Fuelled by the curiosity of the tales of his grandparents' first caravan in the 1960s, a Sprite 400, he finally purchased a classic Sprite of his own when he turned 18 years old. Fast forward a few years, he has now owned most of the Sprite models ranging from the mid-1950s to the late 1970s, amassing a huge historical archive and hands on experience of the model variants along the way.
