'Melting the Stars' captures a way of living that in many ways has changed little in thousands of years. The photographs feature men, women and children still largely ignorant of the ways of the West. They live with great deprivation and hardship and yet so many evince a gentlness sustained by inner stregth that puts many in the Western world to shame. In the Karma of their faith they are spared the anxieties of our existence. Leading an ox by the lught of a flaming torch before the break of day, the fires from the fishing boats teinkling like stars in the bay, theirs is an existence in sharp contrast to our own.
