Home to the world's highest salt lake and loftiest capital city, extreme highs is what you would expect to find in this updated edition. This is the real Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid territory, with adventures to be found for travellers who fancy retracing the steps of the infamous Wild West outlaws. This handbook to Bolivia features an action packed adventure section on mountaineering, trekking, skiing, and mountain biking and also offers expanded coverage of suggested hiking routes. Along with eco tourism developments the guide includes comprehensive coverage of the country's numerous national parks including the Parque Nacional Amboro. The complete spectrum of accommodation options to suit all budgets and tastes is covered plus the fundamentals on fiestas - what do they mean and where are the best ones?

Like Scott of the Antarctic 100 years before, Alan Murphy's 'Voyage of Discovery' originated in the Scottish city of Dundee. Following his degree in Political Science and History, he travelled extensively throughout South America. Alan then took up residence in La Paz working for the fledgling Bolivian Times newspaper. He now lives in Bath.
