Walking Auckland

This practical guide seeks to increase awareness amongst Aucklanders and visitors alike of the number of pleasant walks within the perimeters of the city. The book includes a history of the city, and a background to the flora and fauna that may be encountered on the walks.

"Walking Auckland" starts with an introduction that includes a brief history of the city's settlement, some background on the native flora and fauna which one may expect to encounter en route, and a practical map of the whole region. The walks themselves, approximately 25 of them encompassing the coastline, regional parks, native bush areas and the inner city itself, each feature a short introduction incorporating the level of fitness required, whether or not dogs are permitted, recommended refreshment stops including picnic sites if applicable, and other useful facts. Also included in each walk is a location specific map.
