Waikato

The 'Mighty Waikato', the country's longest river, runs the entire length of this 32-page regional pictorial. Productive farming country, thoroughbred farms, industry and hydroelectric schemes line the floodplains and banks and support thriving communities, largest of which is Hamilton. But there are also deep bush trails and spectacular waterfalls (Wairere, Bridal Veil) to discover, as well the glow-worm caves at Waitomo and a rich vein of Maori history in a region held sacred by local iwi.
