Edgar Rai introduces us to his favourite spots. Whether you want to feel hip, trace the fall-of-the-Wall period, or dance all night to forget the world around you-there is a place for you here. You'll discover the city as though a good friend was showing it to you, giving you relentlessly honest advice. Berlin isn't glamorous on the surface. Instead, it is full of big and small wonders to marvel at: from a drink by the espresso-making world champion to the famous statue of Nefertiti, and from dance clubs in former swimming pools to the world's longest outdoor gallery. Berlin's got history, a down-to-earth brash charm and a metropolitan versatility. A world-class combination.
Edgar Rai, born in 1967, actually comes from a small town in Hesse. Studying English and music led him to Berlin, and the big city has cast a spell on him ever since. He has been an author since 2001. He also taught Creative Writing at the Freie Universität, Berlin from 2003 to 2008. His past day jobs have been as multi-faceted as the characters in his novels: choir conductor, basketball coach, editor, contractor ... Since 2012, he has been co-owner of the book store Uslar & Rai in Berlin.
