A Miami native, Baca grew up surrounded by an abundance of food traditions. Her culinary passions led her to the Hospitality School at Johnson & Wales University and then to a master's program in Italian Gastronomy & Tourism at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy. She currently resides in Miami, Florida, and works as a freelancer writer.
