Routes (with mapping) to all of the 26 bothies featured, plus suggestions for what to do when you get there (including nearby hills you might climb)
A history of bothies
Personal recollections of visits to the 26 bothies
Taigh Seumas a' Ghlinne (Glen Coe), Ben Alder Cottage, Ruigh Aiteachain, Ryvoan, Shenavall, Warnscale Head, Greg's Hut and Nant Syddion
The majority of bothies are in the Scottish Highlands, but the guide also includes bothies in Dumfries and Galloway, Northumberland, the Pennines, the Lake District, Snowdonia, Mid-Wales and the Brecon Beacons
Growing up on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, in North Wales, Phoebe Smith was bitten by the outdoor bug early. Her love of dramatic landscapes has since led to walking and backpacking adventures all over the world. Of all the places she has been, however, it is the UK (in particular the coastal areas) that holds a special place in her heart. Phoebe is currently editor of Wanderlust magazine. She has also written for many other outdoor magazines including Trail and Country Walking. When not planning her next escapade she is most likely to be found in the mountains, powered by nothing more than her own feet.
