JOURNEY THROUGH THE PEAK DISTRICT

Jarrold Publishing is proud to present four new title for spring 2001. The new Journey Through series will include - Yorkshire, The Peak District, The Scottish Borders and The Scottish Highlands and Islands. A Journey Through the Peak District features superb colour photography of the scenery that encompasses England's most-visited National Park. The Peak District - in the heart of England at the crossroads between highlands and lowlands - divides naturally into the White Peak and the Dark, or High, Peak. The White Peak presents a classic limestone landscape with sweeping pastoral countryside of bright green fields, criss-crossed by miles of drystone walling. Into this, erosion has cut steep-sided, wooded dates that provide some of the most spectacular riverside scenery in the country, dotted with idyllic villages. On the other hand, the rugged High Peak presents a more challenging landscape of lonely and empty moorlands that seem to stretch for ever. Each photograph will be accompanied by an informative extended caption that details the historical and geographical significance of the subject featured, creating a perfect introduction to and souvenir of this special area.
As with the three other titles in this series, this book has been designed in a fresh, imaginative and appealing manner with full-colour photography and an attractive colour map marking all the places included.
