Told through the eyes of the young kiwi adventurer, this is a gripping account of her journey and the challenges faced along the way. Ultimately, A Long Cold Paddle is a story of unwavering determination on a great adventure that is sure to inspire readers young and old.
Tara Mulvany is an adventurer from southern New Zealand. She grew up tramping and mountaineering with her family, and as an 11-year-old climbed Mt Aspiring with her Dad. A year later she climbed almost to the summit of Aoraki/Mt Cook. After high school she completed an outdoor recreation course, where she was first introduced to whitewater kayaking. Since then she has worked for several seasons as a sea kayak guide in Fiordland, and during the winters has spent time overseas. She has travelled through South America, Nepal and South East Asia, where she worked as a safety kayaker for a rafting company in Northern Thailand. Since completing her circumnavigation of the South Island, she has gone on to paddle around both Stewart Island and the North Island. This is her first book.
