Sydney Rock Pools

Sydneys coastline and harbor has a series of beautiful rock pools that have been cut into the base of cliffs and rocky headlands. Nearly every Sydney beach has one ocean pool, some were built by wealthy people in the 1800s, others by convicts. Ignacio's passion for both swimming and photography was the catalyst for this project.

Sydneys coastline and harbor has a series of beautiful rock pools that have been cut into the base of cliffs and rocky headlands. Nearly every Sydney beach has one ocean pool which is usually located at the southern end, to give swimmers some protection when the southerly winds bring cold air and big seas. Some were built by wealthy people in the 1800s, others by convicts. They come in all sizes and shapes and each one has its own colourful history and interesting anecdotes. Ignacio’s passion for both swimming and photography was the catalyst for this project.
