The book is an account of Steven Froelich's trip to Russia in the Spring of 2006 which had him consuming so much alcohol and drugs that he decides to set off for Cuba. On arrival in Havana, he discovers it is illegal to be in Cuba with no money and finds himself incarcerated in Havana City Jail. In prison, he makes friends with the other inmates from Haiti, Dominica, Afghanistan and Colombia before he is finally released and celebrates his freedom at Havana airport. Moscow to Havana is the memoir of a comic holiday in hell with illustrations by Oscar Zarate.
Steven Froelich was born and brought up in Elgin, outside of Chicago. In his teens he fled to Los Angeles and then New York. He has lived in London for the last ten years. Steven is an actor/playwright. His first play, "They Offered Bob and Wilma Cash", had Sylvia Miles in the lead with Steven playing opposite as her son. His second play, "Weekend In Rio", was work shopped at the Steppenwolf Studio in Chicago with Laurie Metcalfe in the lead followed by public performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it received two Best Actress nominations. His third play, "It Woulda Been Nice", was performed by Steven at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival at exactly the same time as "Weekend In Rio".
