The Skye Trail is a week long backpacking route across the Isle of Skye. From Rubha Hunish in the north, the Skye Trail heads along the Trotternish Ridge and past the Cuillin to Broadford in the south, with an option to tackle Bla Bheinn en route. This is a challenging, unwaymarked route suitable for experienced backpackers and mountain walkers.
This slim guidebook to the Skye Trail long-distance walking route from top to toe of the magical Isle of Skye tells you all you need to know for an excellent 7 days' backpacking all the way from the headland of Rubha Hunish, through Portree to Broadford and over Bla Bheinn if you fancy. As yet unwaymarked and only for experienced walkers and backpackers, this challenging route provides the walker with a tour of Skye's most iconic landforms - including the Trotternish Ridge and the Cuillin ridge - as well as of its turbulent history, from the iron age forts to the ruins of the Clearance villages. Whether making use of island hospitality or opting for the freedom of a tent, completing the continuous route represents a real challenge and a fitting match for the epic landscapes found on Skye. Route illustrated with OS maps and profiles and stunning photography - with extensive appendices on the language, all the accommodation available and a comprehensive reading list for some inspirational pre-adventure reading.

Helen and Paul Webster have lived in the Scottish Highlands since 2005 and co-founded Walkhighlands in 2007, a free online guide and forum for walkers in Scotland. They are passionate about the need to conserve wild land while developing local tourism at the same time. Helen and Paul have co-authored 11 walking books.
