The Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis is celebrated for its world-famous collection of Dutch and Flemish masterpieces of the Golden Age, including paintings by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Steen, Hals and Rubens. Emilie E.S. Gordenker has been Director of the Royal Picture Gallery, Mauritshuis since 2008. She holds a doctorate in the History of Art from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, with a specialty in Dutch and Flemish paintings of the Golden Age. She has published widely on the history of dress and the artist, Anthony van Dyck. She held the position of Senior Curator of Early Netherlandish, Dutch and Flemish Art at the Scottish National Gallery before becoming Director of the Mauritshuis.
