Hailed as a book that reverses the anthropological gaze, 'The London Jungle Book' is the personal story of Indian tribal artist Bhajju Shyam's first encounter with a western city. Revised & fully updated to mark the 10th anniversary of that momentous journey, Bhajju's rich art and poignant reflections are as relevant today as they ever were.
Bhajju Shyam - a brilliant artist from the Gond tribe in central India - was commissioned to paint the walls of an Indian restaurant in London, and spent two months in the city. The book that emerged from the journey is a visual travelogue of his first encounter with a western metropolis. With radical innocence and great sophistication, Bhajju brings the signs of the Gond forest to bear on the city, turning London into an exotic jungle. This new and fully re-designed edition of the now-classic book marks the tenth anniversary of Bhajju's momentous journey to London.

Bhajju Shyam is hailed as the finest living Gond tribal artist in India. His intricate and colorful work is well-known throughout India and abroad, and has been exhibited in the UK, USA, Germany, Holland, France, Russia, Italy and Reunion Island. The internationally acclaimed London Jungle Book was Bhajju's first book with Tara, and he has subsequently been involved with seminal projects, including The Night Life of Trees, Flight of the Mermaid, That's How I See Things, Signature: Patterns in Gond Art, & Alone in the Forest. From the walls of his tribal village home to international acclaim, Bhajju's has been an incredible creative journey.
