This book is a day-by-day account of a six-week wildlife tour of Namibia, made by 'Brian' of Brian on the Brahmaputra fame and his long-suffering wife. Like that preceding book, it is, of course, a great deal more than just a detailed travel diary. It is a tale of a fascinating expedition through this fabulous country, seen through Brian's eyes, and focuses on the many different people he meets on his travels. It also records Brian's experience of state enterprises and his thoughts on how these fail to match up to those in the private sector - and his thoughts on encounters with 'spirituality'. It is still essentially a factual account of the six-week tour, but as in Brian on the Brahmaputra it is overlaid with humour, more quirky perspectives and more 'creative embellishments'. It therefore entertains as well as informs - and it also stimulates. It will appeal to the same reader as Brian on the Brahmaputra; anyone who has an interest in travel and human behaviour, with a good sense of humour - and any sort of interest in animals and birds.
The title of the book is a play on the name of the state institution which runs the public wildlife facilities in the country: Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) - and when compared to the excellent catering on offer at all the private lodges and camps in Namibia, the institution which also runs what can only be described as 'Namibia's Worst Restaurants'. This book is part of a seven-part series which details Brian and Sandra's travels to Assam, Namibia, Syria, Borneo, Cape Verde, Botswana and Morocco - and in due course, Zambia.

David Fletcher was born in Rugby. He attended the University of Birmingham and graduated with a degree in Chemistry. David then trained as a Chartered Accountant at Touche Ross, which later become Deloitte, where he rose to Partner. He is now retired.
