A beautifully illustrated, clear and concise guide to historic Warwick.
For 1,400 years Warwick has graced the Midlands with its fine castle, attractive architecture and sense of history. However, there has not been a comprehensive guidebook available for visitors and locals alike. This book provides a detailed but accessible description of the history and architecture of this fascinating town in the form of a guided walk. Christine M. Cluley has designed a tour that takes visitors round the heart of Warwick within the original walls. The route covers two miles and takes approximately two hours. It can be followed in one attempt or broken up into smaller adventures. The buildings along the way provide a treasure chest of architectural styles with hints of medieval survivals, a few Tudor gems, some Victorian creations, and some more modern additions that bring the story up to date. Above all, though, Warwick offers one of the finest surviving examples of an early eighteenth-century townscape.

Award-winning historian & researcher, Christine M. Cluley, has worked on Heritage Education projects at Warwickshire Record Office and Museum. After thirteen years she stepped down from the Chair of The Friends of the Warwickshire County Record Office and is now Vice Chairman. Although now a resident of Gloucestershire she lived in Warwickshire for 30 years and considers herself a Warwickshire woman. She has worked at Compton Verney for three years as a gallery interpreter, leading tours and talks. She has worked at Compton Verney for three years as a gallery interpreter, leading tours and talks. She has worked closely with Dorothie Feilding's family in the creation of this title.
