South America expert Wayne Bernhardson gives readers his unique perspective on Argentina, from hiking in the Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego to viewing wildlife among the lagoons of Esteros del Ibera. Bernhardson provides suggestions for great trip strategies, such as the 21-Day Natural History Tour and 15 Days of Argentine Art and Architecture. Moon Argentina is complete with tips on exploring historic sites like Plaza de Mayo and the pre-Columbian ruins of Quilmes.

Wayne Bernhardson first visited Argentina in 1979, traveling as far as Tierra del Fuego-"the uttermost part of the earth"-and he has returned there almost every year since 1990. To broaden and deepen his appreciation of the country, he has driven well over 62,000 miles through Argentina, from its sub-Antarctic tip to its subtropical top. He spends at least four to five months in South America every year. Wayne earned his Ph.D. in geography at the University of California, Berkeley, but abandoned academia for a perpetual Latin American road trip that many university faculty envy. He is the author of Moon Handbooks to Buenos Aires, Chile, and Patagonia, and has written for magazines and newspapers including Trips, the San Francisco Chronicle, the American Geographical Society's Focus, Business Traveler, Dupont Registry Tampa Bay, Postcards, National Geographic Traveler, Latin Trade, and Travel Holiday. He often gives slide lectures on destinations he covers in his books. When not in South America (he owns an apartment in Buenos Aires near the Palermo botanical gardens), Wayne resides in Oakland, California, with his wife, Maria Laura Massolo; their daughter, Clio Bernhardson-Massolo; and their Alaskan malamute, Malbec (named for Argentina's signature red wine).
