It is the standard contract for civil engineering minor works in the same way as the "ICE Conditions of Contract, 5th edition" but has been written specifically to cater for contracts where: the potential risks to both the employer and the contractor are small; the completion period is no longer than 6 months except where payment is on a dayworks or cost-plus-fee basis; the works are simple and straightforward; the contract value does not exceed 100,000 pounds; the design work is complete in all essentials before tenders are invited; and nominated sub-contractors are not employed.
