In response to consumer demand for tighter regulations to govern the profession, Parliament introduced new orders and regulations under the Estate Agents Act 1979: the Estate Agents (Undesirable Practices) Order; the Estate Agents (Provision of Information) Regulations; and the Estate Agents (Specified Offences) (No 2) Order - (all effective from July 1991). these were supplemented by the Property Misdescriptions Act 1991.
