Housing law issues can be wide-ranging and involve dealing with several areas of the law. "The Housing Law Handbook" provides a practical and concise outline of the law and procedure relating to housing problems. The handbook aims to be a first port of call for lawyers and advisors dealing with housing as well as professionals in social housing sector, providing information in a concise and manageable form to support busy litigators and caseworkers. This handbook: explains areas of landlord and tenant most relevant to housing, including the basic principles in relation to tenure and mortgage repossession; covers new ground in addressing housing where the immigration status of the person seeking accommodation precludes or restricts the provision of accommodation by a local housing authority but permits provision by a public authority under other legislation; and, explains other routes into housing under the National Health Service Act 2006, Mental Health Act 1983, and Children Act 1989.In addition, the "Housing Law Handbook" includes an overview of the numerous enforcement measures available to tackle anti-social behaviour, information on dealing with unhealthy housing under the Housing Act 2004, and remedies for disrepair.
The handbook will also be indispensable for anyone involved in housing management when dealing with possession claims.
