This is the 2nd edition of Truesdell and Noll's classic treatise on the mechanics of continua. The authors, who contributed to an axiomatic approach to continuum mechanics, present a solid foundation of non-linear materials science and basic properties of fluid media, striving to find a rational ingress to more complex mechanical phenomena by setting up clear and plausible theories of mechanical behaviour.
