The field of environmental sustainability is continuing to evolve, and there have been many advances over the past three to four years. As an example, the origin of sustainability happened in 1988 when a commission developed the concept of sustainable development, later shortened to sustainability. A few years later, another term for this concept was the Triple Bottom Line consisting of environmental integrity, social equity and economic viability. Now the term used most frequently is ESG referring to environment, social, and governance. This will be covered greatly both in the Sustainability Strategies section and the Tools and Guideline section. This book presents several different sustainability and ESG strategies and tools that can be implemented by organizations to improve their competitive advantage without causing harm to the environment and while providing a positive impact to the community and workplace. It will be complemented with case studies as examples of the strategies and tools and Training slides for Tutors. New to this edition, ESG and Circular Economy are incorporated in a new Chapter and integrated into existing chapters as well. The concept of ESG has caused a major change in companies' sustainability operations. The new edition shows how the various old and new sustainability strategies will impact ESG and how each strategy will benefit the ESG concept, including the communication, measuring, reporting of ESG metrics.
