The book is written with the goal of assisting teaching physics to first year engineering students at university level. The students are introduced to the needed mathematical background in the beginning which introduces the concept of motion. These concepts are expanded to cover different topics in classical mechanics, oscillation, radiation, thermodynamics and fluidics. The book by no means replaces specialized courses. It is however an introductory course in itself that touches upon those topics at a basic fundamental level. The contents of the book are written based on the authors' experiences and struggles while teaching first year university students. Hence, through the course of this book, the authors try to provide sufficient content that could possibly ease the transition for students who struggle with the topic. The book is a useful tool for teachers who face similar situations particularly with large numbers and wide diversity of students.

Dr Waleed Mohammed is currently a research faculty at The Bangkok University Center of Research in Optoelectronics, Communications and Computational Systems (BU-CROCCS), Thailand. He received his doctoral degree in optics from the College of Optics and Photonics (CREOL), USA, in 2004 in the field of micro optics and fiber optics devices. He then joined the ultra-fast photonics group at the University of Toronto, Canada, as a postdoctoral fellow. Before joining Bangkok University, he worked as a lecturer in nano-engineering at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.Pimrapat Thanusutiyabhorn is a Physics lecturer at Bangkok University, Thailand. She holds a Bachelors and Master's degree in Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Additionally, she pursued her second Master's degree in Science from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba, Canada. With expertise in optics and photonics, electromagnetic fields, sub-surface imaging, and visualization, she is deeply passionate about advancing knowledge in these areas.
