This book critically overcomes the traditional dichotomy introduced by the empiricist tradition between knowledge and values. To do so, it refers to the composite tradition of European critical rationalism inaugurated by Kant and matured with the lesson of Husserl’s phenomenology. The book illustrates a normativist and transcendentalist conception of knowledge, showing its value as well as its limits. The book will be of use to scholars, teachers and people interested in developing a new image of scientific knowledge without forgetting the role and importance of axiology for the life of all people.

Fabio Minazzi, Full Professor of Philosophy of Science in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Sciences at the University of Insubria, Italy, is a full member of the Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences in Brussels. He has authored 36 monographs and edited 90 edited volumes, in addition to more than 900 essays and studies (which have also appeared in Italian, English, French, Spanish, German and Chinese). In 2009, he founded the Centro Internazionale Insubrico, which he has been directing ever since, promoting both the publication of more than a hundred volumes of studies and the realisation of the Young Thinkers project, which defends the dissemination of philosophy as a right of citizenship, as well as the preservation of 34 historical archives and 7 author's libraries that are an expression of the philosophy of the ‘Milan school’.
