Features a colour star map with the positions of the Moon and planets with features on the month's "Special events", "Object of the month", and "Topic of the month", described. This book includes explanations of the planet's movements, a list of recommended deep sky objects and a review of the stargazing equipment.
"Stargazing 2005" was a popular addition to Philip's astronomy list last year, and the 2006 edition of this popular month-by-month practical guide to the changing night sky is expected to be equally well received. Written in a clear and accessible style by Heather Couper and Nigel Henbest, each month features a colour star map with the positions of the Moon and planets with features on that month's 'Special events', 'Object of the month', and 'Topic of the month', described in more detail. Also included are explanations of the planet's movements, a list of recommended deep sky objects and a review of the latest stargazing equipment. This is an exceptionally useful guide for both the seasoned observer and the beginner. Both Heather and Nigel are internationally recognised writers and broadcasters on astronomy and space.

Heather Couper is a past President of both the British Astronomical Association and the Society for Popular Astronomy. She is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and the Institute of Physics, and a former Millennium Commissioner, for which she was awarded the CBE in 2007. Nigel Henbest has been Astronomy Consultant to New Scientist magazine, Editor of the Journal of the British Astronomical Association, and Media Consultant to the Royal Greenwich Observatory. He is also a Future Astronaut with Virgin Galactic.
