Cancer Epigenetics

lt;p>Rasime Kalkan is Vice-Rector at the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (CHSSU) in Guzelyurt, Cyprus.

She completed her PhD in the Department of Medical Genetics at the Eskisehir Osmangazi University in Turkey and worked as a member of the Department of Medical Genetics at the Near East University between November 2011 and June 2022. In 2020 she was appointed Chair of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the Arts and Sciences Faculty at Near East University. She has been the founding Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University in Guzelyurt, Cyprus since July 2022.

During her PhD, her research focusses on genetic and epigenetic alterations in brain tumors, especially in glioblastoma. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored several chapters for various national and international books. Furthermore, she was involved in many research projects as project coordinator and assistant investigator. Her current research is focused on the identification of epigenetic and genetic alterations in cancer, obesity and post-menopausal term.
