The Flax Genome is a comprehensive compilation of most recent studies focused on reference genome, genetic resources and molecular diversity, breeding, QTL mapping, gene editing tools, functional genomics and metabolomics, molecular breeding via genomic selection, and genomic resources. The flax genome reference sequences and the new genome assemblies are presented. A list of flax QTL and candidate genes associated with more than 35 traits, including yield and agronomic, seed quality and fatty acid composition, fibre quality and yield, abiotic stress, and disease resistance traits, are summarized. A QTL- based genomic selection strategy and genome-editing tools are systematically introduced. In addition, huge amounts of flax genomic resources generated in the last decade are summarized.

The book contains 13 chapters with about 390 pages authored by globally reputed researchers in the relevant fields to this crop  The book is intended to be useful to students, teachers, and researchers interested in traditional and molecular breeding, pathology, molecular genetics and breeding, bioinformatics and computational biology, and functional genomics

Dr. Frank You is a senior research scientist in plant bioinformatics and genomics at Ottawa Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Canada. Dr. You has the expertise in computational biology and bioinformatics, statistical genetics, and plant genetics and breeding. His research interests include plant comparative and statistical genomics, quantitative genetics, genome assembly and annotation of complex genomes, gene expression and microarray data analysis, physical mapping and data analysis, high-throughput molecular marker design and development, and bioinformatics software development. Dr. You's recent research projects include genome sequencing and annotation, identification of QTL mapping and candidate genes cloning of genes associated with seed yield and disease resistance in flax and cereal crops, and breeding database development., and gene identification and marker development for wheat disease and pest resistance. Dr. You has contributed more than 140 peer-reviewed papers and 8 book chapters.in scientific journals, including some high impact journals such as Nature and PNAS.

Dr. Bourlaye Fofana is a senior research scientist in plant physiology and genomics at the Charlottetown Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Canada. Dr. Fofana is a Plant Molecular biologist specialized in functional genomics of crop biosynthetic pathways  and bioprocesses. His research interests include germplasm development and characterization, metabolite profiling and alteration for improved crop quality, gene discovery and functional characterization. His recent research studies include the elucidation of secoisolaricirenol lignan glycosylation in flax, the development of diploid potato germplasm with altered steroidal glycoalkaloid biosynthetic genes and profiles, as well as the development, identification and characterization of diploid potatoes tolerant to light-exposed greening. Dr. Fofana has published more than 40 45 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals and 3 book chapters.
