Updated twice yearly, this looseleaf reference work describes some 240 passports from 103 countries. Many countries have special passports, such as diplomatic, alien's and services, as well as the national one. Most of these are included, as are identity cards wherever possible. All documents are listed on the basis of a checklist, covering such details as printing techniqus, in-built safety devices (fluorescent ink, watermarks and security thread) validity period, the composition of the passport number and where and how the passport is stamped. Key pages of passports containing the salient points that the controlling officer should look out for are reproduced in colour. (For reasons of security, the passports have been reduced to 75% their normal size). The handbook is published in five languages, and aims to serve as a guide wherever passports are shown as proof of identity.
