This book provides a wide scope of contributions related to optoelectronic device application in a variety of robotic systems for diverse purposes. The contributions are focused on optoelectronic sensors and analyzing systems, 3D and 2D machine vision technologies, robot navigation, pose estimations, robot operation in cyclic procedures, control schemes, motion controllers, and intelligent algorithms and vision systems. Applications of these technologies are outlined for unmanned aerial vehicles, autonomous and mobile robots, industrial inspection applications, cultural heritage documentation, and structural health monitoring. Also discussed are recent advanced research in measurement and others areas where 3D and 2D machine vision and machine control play an important role. Surveys and reviews about optoelectronic and vision-based applications are also included. These topics are of interest to readers from a diverse group including those working in optoelectronics, and electrical, electronic and computer engineering.

Oleg Sergiyenko received the B.S. (Honoris Causa) and M.S. degrees in Kharkiv National University of Automobiles and Highways, Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 1991, 1993, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in Kharkiv National Polytechnic University on specialty ‘‘Tools and methods of non-destructive control’’ in 1997. He received the PostDoc degree (DsC, or habilitation thesis) in Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics in 2018. He has been the author of 1 book, editor of 7 books, and has written 31 book chapters, 159 papers indexed in SCOPUS (h-index 21), holds 2 patents of Ukraine, and 1 patent of Mexico. Since 1994 until the present time, he is represented by his research works in several International Congresses of IEEE, ICROS, SICE, IMEKO in USA, England, Japan, Italy, Austria, Scotland, Portugal, Canada, Ukraine, Turkey, Brazil, and Mexico. He is currently the Head of Applied Physics Department of Engineering Institute of Baja California Autonomous University, Mexico, director of several master’s and doctorate thesis. He was a member of Program Committees of various international and local conferences, participating annually as Session Chair of IEEE ISIE and IECON conferences in 2014 - 2022. He is Recognized Reviewer of Elsevier, constant reviewer of IEEE Transaction on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Sensors Journal, etc. He is a member (Academician) of Academy of Applied Radioelectronics of Ukraine, Russia and Belorussia. He did receive the award of “Best session presentation” in IECON2014 in Dallas, USA, IECON2016 in Florence, Italy and ISIE2019 in Vancouver, Canada. He did receive as coauthor the award of “Outstanding Paper in the 2017 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence”.
