This book discusses the novel metabolic cross-talk between immune and tumor cells in the tumor microenvironment that promotes their growth and progression. It also describes deregulated metabolism in cancer cells that promotes suppressive and cancer cell-favourable microenvironment. Further, the book provides novel insights on the metabolic changes in immune cells that promote tumor cell growth and survival. In turn, it also reviews the involvement of immuno-onco metabolic cross-talk in the development of resistance to chemo-radiation therapy (CRT) in tumor cells. Lastly, it also explores the potential of immuno-oncology metabolism as a therapeutic approach against tumor cells.

Dr. Muzafar Ahmad Macha is working as an Assistant Professor and a Ramanlingaswami Fellow at the Watson-Crick Centre for Molecular Medicine, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), India. He completed his Ph.D. from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi. He did his postdoctoral training from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB), University of Nebraska Medical center (UNMC), USA. Dr. Macha has published more than 45 peer-reviewed articles in journals of high repute and authored or co-authored numerous books and book chapters. He has been conferred with two prestigious Ramalingaswami & Ramanujan fellowships from Govt. of India. He is a member of many international scientific societies and organizations importantly American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He is an Associate Editor of Frontiers of Oncology, Gastrointestinal Cancer Section and editorial board member and reviewer of many international journals.

Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat is a research scientist at the Dept. of Molecular and Metabolic Imaging Laboratory, Sidra Medicine, Qatar. He completed his Ph.D. from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi. During postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University Medical School (VUMS), he worked on the pathobiological importance of tight junction proteins (Claudins) and bile acid-induced APE1/Ref1 in the pathogenesis of Colorectal and Esophageal Cancers, respectively. He has published in several journals of high repute, including Nature Communications, GUT, Oncogene, Cancer Research, and Molecular Cancer. Recently, he was awarded as an outstanding researcher for the years 2018 and 2019 from Sidra Medicine. He is an active member of many Immunology and Cancer societies and is serving in the editorial board review of many peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Nissar Ahmad Wani is a Ramalingaswami Fellow (Scientist-D) at the Department of Biotechnology, Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal, India. He did his Ph.D. from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India. He joined Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC), Ohio State University, USA as postdoctoral researcher. He studied involvement of tumor microenvironment and microRNAs on the deregulation of metabolomics which is involved in breast cancer growth and metastasis. He received a prestigious Ramalingaswami fellowship from the Ministry of Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India and joined the Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal, to understand the molecular mechanisms associated with drug resistance in triple-negative Breast cancer (TNBC). He has published in well-reputed journals like Cancer Research, Breast Cancer Research and Am J Pathology. He is an active member of many societies, including American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) & Nutritional Society of India.
