Oil and Gas Engineering for Non-Engineers
CRC Press (Verlag)
978-0-367-60772-2 (ISBN)
Oil and Gas Engineering for Non-Engineers explains in non-technical terms how oil and gas exploration and production are carried out in the upstream oil and gas industry. The aim is to help readers with no prior knowledge of the oil and gas industry obtain a working understanding of the field.
Focuses on just the basics of what the layperson needs to know to understand the industry
Uses non-technical terms, simple explanations, and illustrations to describe the inner workings of the field
Explains how oil is detected underground, how well locations are determined, how drilling is done, and how wells are monitored during production
Describes how and why oil and gas are separated from impurities before being sent to customers
Aimed at non-engineers working within the oil and gas sector, this book helps readers get comfortable with the workings of this advanced field without the need for an advanced degree in the subject.
Dr. Quinta Nwanosike Warren, PE, PMP, is a chemical engineer and an energy professional. She is an entrepreneur and has worked in industry, academia, and government. She holds a PhD in Chemical & BioMolecular Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Warren previously worked for ConocoPhillips for on CO2 capture research and as a reservoir engineer for heavy oil and tight gas assets. She has worked with the US Department of Energy, learning about and contributing to domestic and international policy around carbon management and power generation. She also worked for the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a US government agency that works on international development. At MCC, she provided energy expertise and contributed to the development of energy projects. Dr. Warren owns and runs a consulting company called Energy Research Consulting (www.EngrRC.com) which provides energy and water solutions and strategies. Dr. Warren recently published a textbook titled “A Practical Guide to Oil & Gas Resource Characterization for Geologists and Reservoir Engineers.”
