This book is the standard text book for elastoplasticity which is explained comprehensively covering the monotonic and cyclic loading behaviors, the rate-independent and rate-dependent deformation behaviors and the infinitesimal to finite deformation behaviors. Concise explanations on vector-tensor analysis and continuum mechanics are provided first as a foundation for elastoplasticity theory, covering the underlying physical concepts and mathematics, e.g. convective time-derivatives, pull-back and push-forward operations, objectivity, work-conjugacy and multiplicative decomposition. Then, the following theories/models are described almost of which have been proposed by the author and thus they are explained comprehensively.

1) The subloading surface concept underling the cyclic plasticity, which insists that the plastic deformation develops as the stress approaches the yield surface. Then, the smooth elastic-plastic transition leading to the continuous variation of the tangent stiffness modulus is described. This concept is inevitable to describe the cyclic loading behavior in a general stress amplitude.

2) The subloading-overstress model by which the viscoplastic strain rate is described accurately at the general rate of deformation from the static to the impact loading,

3) The multiplicative-subloading hyperelastic-based (visco)plasticity for the exact descriptions of the finite elastic and (visco)plastic deformations,

4) The constitutive equations for the damage, the phase-transformation, etc. and for metals, soils and polymers are described comprehensively.

5) The multiplicative-subloading hyperelastic-based crystal (visco)plasticity model for the exact description of the finite elastic and (visco)plastic deformations of crystalline solids,

6) The subloading-friction model for the exact description of the dry and the fluid (lubricated) frictions at the general rate of sliding from the static to the impact sliding.

This fourth edition is brushed up by adding a number of additional figures, explanations and computer programs, while the text and formulae have been revised and improved where necessary.
