This book focuses on the geological characteristics and genesis of several base metal deposits in the northern margin of the North China Plate, namely the Bainaimiao Cu-Au-Mo, the Huogeqi Cu-Pb-Zn, the Dongshengmiao Zn-Pb-Cu and the Jiashengpan Zn-Pb deposits. These deposits have geological and geochemical affinities with orogenic-type deposits, such as shear zone-controlled mineralization and carbon-rich low-salinitiy ore-forming fluids, and are characterized by multistage ore-forming histories. Remobilization of the pre-enriched (stratabound or porphyry-type) base metals took place as responses to orogenesis and metamorphism, leading to metal redistribution and the formation of orogenic-type orebodies. The formation of orogenic-type base metal deposits is enigmatic, and the case studies presented in this book provide insights into understanding the genesis of this type of deposits. In particular, pre-enrichment of base metals seems to be important, in terms of preconditioning for later shear zone-controlled mineralization, since base metals are believed to have limited solubilities in the low-salinity ore-fluids.

Dr. Wenbo Li is currently an associate professor in the School of Earth and Space Sciences of Peking University and a guest professor of Guizhou University. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2004, and then joined to Peking University. He worked at CODES ARC Centre of Excellence in Ore Deposits, University of Tasmania as a visiting scholar during 2013 to 2014. He has published one book and over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and cited more than 1700 times. He is the member of Society of Economic Geologists (SEG). His research and teaching interests focus on economic geology and ore deposits exploration.

Dr. Richen Zhong is an associate professor of the University of Science and Technology Beijing. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the School of Earth and Space Sciences of Peking University in 2014. He worked at Monash University as a visiting scholar during 2015 to 2016. He has published over 20 articles as first or corresponding authors in peer-reviewed journals. His research and teaching interests focus on economic geology and geochemistry of hydrothermal processes.

Dr Yanjing Chen, got Ph.D. from Nanjing University, is a professor at the School of Earth and Space Sciences, Peking University, and an adjunct professor at the Xinjiang Research Center for Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shandong University of Science and Technology. He is an associate editor of Ore Geology Reviews and Geological Reviews and on the Editorial Board of more than ten journals such as Minerals. Research fields include economic geology, geochemistry, geological and environmental (GOE) evolution and associated mineralization event. He has published over 200 research papers and several books such as 'Gold Mineralization in Western Henan' (Chinese Seismological Press, 1992, in Chinese) and won the National Natural Science Award (2015, Grade 2) for the study of continental collision metallogeny and its application.

Dr. Qiaohui Pi is currently an associate professor in the School of Earth Sciences of Guilin University of Technology. He received his Ph.D. from China University of Geosciences (Beijing) in 2010 and entered the Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a postdoctor in 2012. He used to study and work at Louisiana State University (LSU) as a visiting scholar during 2017 to 2018. He has long been engaged in isotope and geochemistry research and teaching work and has solid fieldwork experience and geochemistry research experience. He has published a book and many articles in top international magazines such as Ore Geology Reviews and Mineralium Deposita.
