Crabs: a worldwide illustrated guide to brachyura reveals remarkable facts about the biology, taxonomy, and notable characteristics of 100+ families.

Crabs explores the biology, taxonomy and lives of these fascinating creatures. Fascinating commentary, beautiful photography and tables of facts reveal notable characteristics of 100+ families.

From the extreme ocean depths and hydrothermal vents, to desert burrows, crabs have conquered just about every habitat in the world. From the smallest Pea crab (0.5") to an enormous Japanese spider crab (with a 13-foot leg span), crabs boast a huge range of body shapes and sizes and are often adorned with jaw-droppingly beautiful colour and pattern.

Many crab families show complex and intriguing behaviour patterns as a result of ancient and convoluted evolutionary paths. For the first time, Crabs: a worldwide illustrated guide to brachyura reveals remarkable facts about these stalk-eyed creatures as they sidle through life.
