This book explores the mechanics of rotor spinning machines.

It discusses the open-end spinning machine rotor’s vibrations and bearings as well as the kinematics of the rotor's drive as individual drive or central drive, both as a reducing drive and multiplying drive. It examines explanations for the rotor's power requirements through different techniques such as Shirley institute (UK) and Zurich Federal Institute.

It also covers power distribution inside the machine, different mechanisms of the machine, and air flow inside the spinning machine.

Ibrahim A. Elhawary is a professor emeritus at the Textile Engineering Department (TED) at Alexandria University and a registered professional engineer (RPE) with the state of Alexandria (General Engineer Syndicate [GES]). He obtained his PhD in mechanical vibration of heavy continuous filament twisting ring spindles from Moscow State University of Design & Technology in 1978. He earned two diplomas of engineering (BSc and MSc) in textile engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt, in July 1967 and 1972, respectively. His professional experiences are teaching and research assistant from 1967 to 1973, PhD from 1973 to 1978, and a professor of textiles since 1991 to date. Dr. Ibrahim has contributed to writing two reference books, namely, Advances in Yarn Spinning Technology (Woodhead, 2010) and Textiles and Fashion (Woodhead, 2014). Dr. Ibrahim has acted as one of the co-editors for Cotton Fiber to Yarn Manufacturing Technology (Cotton Inc., 2001) and The Spinning Textile Magazine, India. He is the author of several scientific articles, two text books for Alexandria University and Mansoura University, Egypt, and one reference book for the Egyptian Textile Industry. Dr. Ibrahim has been a visiting professor at Auburn University, Alabama; VJTI, Mumbai, India; Baroda University, Mumbai, India; JTI Delhi, India; and Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia; and has participated in several international conferences.
