Teresa M. V. D. Pinho e Melo studied Chemistry at the University of Coimbra, where she graduated in 1985, got her M.Sc. in 1991 and her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1995. She was Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool (1992-1993). She received her Habilitation in Organic Chemistry in 2003. She is currently Associate Professor with Habilitation and Head of the Organic Chemistry Research Group at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. She was President of the Division of Organic Chemistry, Portuguese Chemical Society (December 2015-January 2018) and Director of the Department of Chemistry, University of Coimbra (2015-2019). Teresa Pinho e Melo received the Faculty of Science and Technology Scientific Award 2019 (University of Coimbra) for the Performance and Impact of Scientific Production. Her research interests are in the area of Synthetic and Mechanistic Heterocyclic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry. She has published 144 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and 11 patents/patent applications.Marta Pineiro obtained her Degree in Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain and received her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2003 from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Since 2002, she has been enrolled at the University of Coimbra, being at present Auxiliary Professor. Her research interests are in the area of sustainable organic synthesis,microwave-assisted organic synthesis, mechanochemistry and synthesis and biological applications of tetrapyrrolic macrocycles. She has published 60 peer-reviewed papers, in international journals, 7 book/book chapters and 3 patents/patent applications.
