This book focuses on the prospects of fresh market waste management in developing countries. It characterizes fresh market wastewater and solid wastes, and highlights the human health impact of corresponding waste management practices.

With regard to treatment technologies, the book discusses the anaerobic digestion of fresh solid wastes; the application of natural coagulants for wastewater treatment; the remediation of xenobiotics in wastewater using nanotechnology; and biofilter aquaponic systems for nutrient removal. All of these technologies are recent innovations, offer several concrete advantages, and can be applied in developing countries as non-central treatment systems. In addition, the book covers electricity production from fresh solid wastes using microbial fuel cells, demonstrating the potential held by recycling fresh market wastewater and solid wastes.

Adel Al-Gheethi (PhD) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Water and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia. He has also involved as a lecturer and Laboratories manager at the Faculty of Medical Science, Yemeni-Jordanian University and Higher Institute of Health Sciences, in Sana'a, Yemen, for 4 years. He graduated with a Bachelor and Master of Applied Microbiology from Taiz University, Yemen in 2008. He obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Technology with his thesis on enzymatic degradation of pharmaceutical residues in secondary effluents, at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang, Malaysia in 2014 (fellowship TWAS-USM). His current project focus on application of bacteria, microalgae and fungi for water, wastewater, greywater and clinical wastes treatment as well as in sequestration of CO2 by bio-concrete. Besides, his research focused on recycle of greywater as a production medium for enzymes and microalgae biomass as fish feeds. His research interests also include microbiology of wastewater, phycoremediation, pharmaceutical waste, heavy metals biosorption, and XOCs bio-degradation. He has authored and co-authored 100 articles in international peer-reviewed journals with H index 11 in Scopus and Publons. He has also authored and co-authored Book published in Springer (2019), Four chapters in Handbook of Environmental Materials Management (Springer publisher, 2018). He has also contributed to three teaching modules on environmental engineering Radin Maya Saphira Radin Mohamed (PhD) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Water and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia. She has been working with the UTHM since 2004. She graduated with a PhD with her thesis on Environmental Impacts of Greywater Reuse on Home Gardens, from Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia. Radin Maya Saphira's research involves issues related to improve environmental quality related to their improper discharge. In the last few years, she has extended her research interests to include the low cost treatment system to alleviate the untreated greywater discharge. She is most interested in the use of natural processes and locally available materials. She has coauthored 36 articles in international research journals and a chapter in the book Cellulase: Production, Applications and Health Benefits (NOVA Science Publishers, 2016) and four chapters in Handbook of Environmental Materials Management (Springer, 2018). She has also contributed to three teaching modules on environmental engineering. Efaq Ali Noman (PhD) is a Lecturer at the Department of Applied Microbiology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Taiz University in Taiz, Yemen. She has been working with the Taiz University since 2007. She graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Microbiology from Taiz University, Yemen in 2007. She obtained a master degree in Environmental Technology at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang, Malaysia in 2016 with her thesis on identification and Inactivation of fungal spores in clinical wastes using Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO 2 ), Ph.D thesis in degradation of xenobiotic organic compounds in greywater using ligninolytic enzymes, at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) Johor Malaysia. Her research focuses on low fungal taxonomy and their environmental and industrial applications. Her research interests also include microbiology of wastewater, phycoremediation, pharmaceutical waste, heavy metals biosorption, and antibiotics bio-degradation. She has coauthored 20 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has authored and coauthored ten chapters in Management of Greywater in Developing Countri
