This book highlights the importance of understanding gastric and colon cancer metabolism in guiding diagnosis and drug discovery. It summarizes the correlation between adiponectin and matrix metalloproteinase with colorectal cancer.

The book also evaluates the divergent role of hypoxia-inducible factor 1 in colorectal cancer growth and metastasis. After discussing the role of genetic polymorphisms in alcohol metabolizing enzymes and EPHX1 with the onset of colorectal cancer, it reviews the molecular mechanisms of chemoresistance in gastric cancer and novel therapeutic strategies to reverse the chemoresistance of tumors. In addition, the book explores the theranostic role of nanoparticles and therapeutic potential of phytochemicals with regard to colorectal cancer.

Given its scope, the book offers a valuable guide for oncologists, academic researchers, pharmaceuticals practitioners, and students who are involved in research and treatment of cancer.

Dr. Ganji Seeta Rama Raju is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Energy and Materials Engineering at Dongguk University, Seoul. He received both his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Physics from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. His research chiefly focuses on nanomaterials, imaging, and drug delivery for various malignancies. To date, he has published over 80 research papers in highly reputed international journals. Dr. L.V.K.S. Bhaskar is a senior Scientist at Sickle cell institute Chhattisgarh, Raipur. Dr. Bhaskar was awarded Ph.D. in 2002 by the Sri Venkateswara University in the area of comparative Animal Physiology. During 2003 to 2007, he was Research Associate at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad. He was awarded Prof. Pampapathi Rao memorial Gold medal for the best young scientist research presentation in 2003. Later, he joined as Assistant Professor at Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai. During his leavefrom Sri Ramachandra University, he joined Kaohsiung Medical University (Graduate institute of Medical Genetics) as Postdoctoral fellow (January 2008 – May 2008). His research interests are focused on the molecular basis of alcoholism, genetics of complex human diseases, population genetics, and Cancer Biology. He has published more than 125 research papers in reputed national and international journals. He is a member of many professional and academic bodies and serves as a reviewer of various journals.
